Pseudonyms/monikers

This is a list of the names I have used for various music projects.

[ I sync, therefore I am ]

    Together

Jonathon and I, outside Eastern Bloc records Manchester. Taken for photo-shoot of  the Freaky Dancing magazine interview.  Photo by Nick Speakman.

My first and main project.
Formed by myself and Jonathon
Donaghy in 1989. We formed a
house music outfit with the aim
of creating dance music that
thinks about dynamics drawing
influences from film and current
dance music trends. The concept
was developed after merging
our shared influences to create
what was in its day a fairly new idea.

The Ultimate Escape Project

- a techno project I started in 1991.
I would love to resurrect this project
someday. The point of T.U.E.P. was
to produce synthetic sound-scapes
and textures with no regard for commercial
success. This wasn't to deliberately
go against the grain but was intended
to write electronic music without
compromise. The first release Dumm Dumm
was 16 minutes long, while the follow up
was 20! Signed to Steve Machin's Synthetique
records, writing this music was the most fun
anyone could have on a synth. Although it was
not a conscious decision I feel this may
have been a reaction to being signed to a manipulative
major label. TUEP was great music to
escape to but terrible for business.
TUE's day will come again someday.

Cybertec

[to dig logo out]

- was nothing more than a joke
between friends that found more
success that was intended. My manger
and I decided to see just how energetic
a record we could make without any regard
for cool. I'd like to shake the hand of
all the people who supported this and were
genuine fans of the sound. This was never
my intention but it showed how far something
can go when there is no regard for what we
shouldn't do.

Global Control

[to dig logo out]

- was a project that only saw one release.
I formed this sound with Nick Braithwaite,
an old friend from my school days. He came to
me with an idea that he was sure was going to
rock dance floors the world over. We received
excellent reviews by the dance press and the
more hedonistic clubs of the time like the Luv Dup
DJ's were playing to great effect. We still reminisce
about the recording sessions that seemed to go on
for about half a year. One of The least productive
but most fun projects I've been involved in.

2 Much!

Artwork by Chris Collins.

- was me and Kris Collins acting our shoe size.
We started off with the best intentions after Kris
came back from the States touring with 808 State we
realised our shared love of the Electro and Chemical
Brothers meant we should be making electronic beat
based records. We wrote a couple of blatantly over
the top records that we played at Hope @ Bowlers to
5,000 people. Shaking their hands as we came off stage
almost made us feel like rock stars :)

Dog With 2 Decks

- was the name given to the night I put on after
Creations went under in 2002. The idea was to
have mixing of the highest standard incorporating
cuts / scratches DJs. Darren Green, Glen Red Seal,
C:SHE (of VPL/Bearworx) & G-Kut all agreed to be
involved although the latter 2 never played the night.

Liggaz With Attitude

I started releasing records in 2002 under this guise,

Fox Force Five

- was the name of the all female DJ quintet that
came together at the Attic in Manchester. A lot of
fun was had doing this while a lot of money was lost.
Never the best business man. I cant regret putting
on all those great party's. I would have carried this
on if i could just afford it ! The funniest thing
about this was the number of male DJs that frowned on
the idea. I wonder why? :) The foxes in question were
C:SHE, Millie, Lady Melody, Isobel Pearson and the one
and only Nicola Jane Proctor (aka Niki P)

Silicon Audio Incorporated

- was the name I gave to the company that was to house
all the audio I was making thru electronic means. Incorporating game audio and sound design work.

Baby Please Productions

- was the name I credited all my productions to, post 1991,
in an attempt to create a a production company to cover all
my musical activities.

Greenhouse Records

- it is a little known fact that this was the name of
the record company that Jon & I set-up to release Hardcore
Uproar. It was named after Jonathans rehearsal studio's in
Stockport that are still active and although now under
new management. It is used regularly by many of Manchester's
biggest names. Adrian Percival and I released more records
with a "Greenhouse" catalogue number in 1991 but changed
to Thumbs Up in 1992. I started to release under the
company name Greenhouse records again in 2002.

Thumbs Up Magic

[to dig logo out]

- is the name of the label that released Sasha's remix of
Storming Heaven. Also on the label was The Luv Bug (which was bootlegged by the "Knights Of the Turntable) and Click.

Suddi

- the name forthcoming music releases will be put out under (image by Krispy)
